The Revolution Will Be Based

Everything on the cusp right now. Hillary Clinton swirling the drain of history.  Both Sanders and Trump are now concentrating full rhetorical fire on her. The Democrats who might be inclined to defend her are cutting her loose. Among other things, they waking up to the fact that to nominate her would be to forfeit the election. Might as well chuck her now and go with someone else. But it's probably too late in any case.

Among the Trump Army, the highest compliment one can be paid is to be based, as in "reality based." It reflects what they consider the essence of their movement, that they are in touch with the reality of the world whereas their opponents, both liberal and conservative, live in deep denial of the world and human nature. Former opponents who embrace the Trump cause are immediately labeled based, as are pop and media stars who do likewise. The meme that most captures the essence of basedness is Pepe, an easy-going amphibian whose image is used a touchstone of what the Trump cause is all about.  See "Mexican Congresswoman Wants to Ban Internet Memes"

Joe Biden has pretty much tossed his hat in the ring, as a last minute alternative, as openly as he can be at this point. He has announced his VP pick would be Elizabeth Warren. This is obviously a play to bring in Sanders voters after the royal screwing they are about to experience at the convention. If it plays out like that, it won't work. Sanders will be under enormous pressure to run on the Green ticket with Jill Stein.

The Democratic Party as we know it about to be destroyed, wiped out in a great historical tsunami of an election the likes of which haven't been seen in generations. This will dwarf 1980 as a sudden change of zeitgeist. Much of what we now experience as culturally normal will fall out of fashion quickly, especially at places such as college campuses.
