| The defeat of the GOPe (Republican Party establishment)---and by extension the Establishment---has hit Glenn Beck especially hard. In some ways he is typical of the true-believer Mormon type who have formed one of the last reliable caucses for the GOPe. But he is also a public figure of great magnitude with a great talent for giving voice to the inner yearnings and anxieties of many like him, not only the underlings and the masses, but also the Insiders (whom he knows, and hangs out with). He is arguably invaluable in giving us a kabuki theater translation of their emotions right now. |
