2. Clinton/Franken (Democratic)
3. Sanders/Stein (Green)
4. Johnson/Weld (Libertarian)
It would have been 5-way, but the #NeverTrump forces couldn't find a candidate to run (insert sad Mitt Romney face).
Franken made a strong case for V.P. tonight win his dominating win on Jeopardy. He looked solid at the podium. He has enormous credibility and admiration from liberals, even if he isn't technically right on all issues. Picking him would be a gut-punch to Sanders, right as Bernie would be heading off to Green Convention to receive their promised blessing (from Jill Stein at least) and nationwide ballot access.
Q. Who will be the first debate moderators for this historic evening?
Bernie Sanders on the Green Party ticket looks more and more likely. If so, it would be impossible to exclude him from the televised debates. And ifthe Greens are included, it will be all but impossible to exclude the Libertarians, who also have 50-state ballot access and former governor as their standard bearer. The fantasy scenario for many would be a split Electoral College with no candidate getting a majority. Ain't going to happen. |
