The creaking electrode-sparking Romneybot is being wheeled out again, to try to save the day for the Establishment. My, how it is fun watching the panicked stampede of the wicked. |

I always thought Ted Cruz as creepy, but the idea that he was the most hated man in the U.S. Senate was still elusive to me---until the last few weeks. |
In Mitt Romney's fantasy, he is not forced to to run on a third party ticket---the Republican Establishment in exile. Instead he is on the stage at Cleveland at the Republican convention, looking out at the crowd of delegates. He is just about to give his acceptance speech of the nomination.. They are going wild for him. They have come to their senses. They are now so grateful that he has been nominated. They are now relieved of the burden of having to tolerate the crass interloper who almost stole the Party from them. He smiles as he basks in their love. He is home. He will be a two-time loser as a candidate, of course, but in a way that gives him some cred in history, beyond being a normal loser. He will be this generation's
Adlai Stevenson, and Adlai was insider, after all, in a way that
Mitt's father never quite was. Now they would
have to let Mitt in.*
*in reality at this point all he needed do is outlive them. Now he's blown that chance and will wind up on the trash heap of history.
