 Who is Mike Pence?

The hard-core believers in Trump believe that Pence is loyal to Trump and the Constitution. They believe he was in charge of recent special military operations before and after the recent elections. 

They believe that having Pence punt in regard to the electoral votes, as he did on Wednesday, was part of Trump's plan. Trump gave the decision to Pence, delegating it completely according to the Constitution. Pence chose not to stand in the way of the certification.

Does that mean Trump was surprised by the action, and unprepared for it?  Certainly he could not have been. In fact he would have anticipated it from the beginning. He would assume that all the Constitutional safeguards would fail along the way, and plan for it. Planning for that scenario means you don't have to sweat all the things along the way. If they work out, so be it. But if they don't---and they didn't this time---then you will be ready for that.

Maybe Pence is everything his detractors say. Maybe he let Donald Trump down bigly, and in so doomed Trump's legacy and the nation. He did it because he truly was a Swamp Creature all along, or because he made a very bad judgment. Maybe he will shake hands with Biden and Harris on the 20th, congratulating them.

The Democrats will say, "let's just pretend it was the Pence Administration all this time."

Trump supporters across the country will curse the Judas who betrayed America to her destroyers. They will paint over his name where it appears in signs. Pence will be hated, even as he finds a cushy home amidst the Swamp, rewarded for his act of courage in shepherding America into the new era.

He will write a book about how awful Trump is. He will lauded in the media as the new John McCain.

The Constitution has not yet failed. There is at least one safeguard left that may keep the Republic alive. Both political parties in Congress know what that is. That is why they are doing everything they can right. now to remove it.

But even if they do, there may be yet one more safeguard. It is one that they would not anticipate. One they thought would not put up any resistance, but would destroy them as surely and swiftly as anything on Earth. 

Maybe all this time, this was Trump's plan.
