527 AD -- Justinian the Great crowned Roman Emperor (Constantinople)

533-534 AD -- The Vandalic War. Belisarius captures the Vandalic Kingdom in North Africa for the Roman Empire (Constantinople).

537 AD -- Construction of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople

562 AD -- The Roman Empire (Constantinople) and the Persian Empire (Sasanians) conclude peace treaty concluding a long squabble of the Kingdom of Lazica in the Caucasus Mountains.

565 AD -- Death of Justinian the Great

572 AD -- Roman Empire (Constantinople) begins a twenty-year campaign of expanding its border in the East against its ancient adversary, the Persian (Sasanian) Empire.The long campaign results in the Roman recapture of Armenia by the end of the war in 591 AD.
The war between the two powers ended in 591 after Roman Emperor Maurice helped the Sasanian king Khosrow II regain the Persian throne.

602 AD -- Roman Emperor Maurice is murdered by his rival Phocas. Khosrow II of Persia declares war on Roman Empire to avenge Maurice.

602-628 AD -- The Final Roman-Persian War
