Canary Island Pines

Woke up feeling down today about my work, especially the meaningfulness of my day job, grasping for a bit of hope. After bagel and coffee on the terrace: what if I produce a laminated study guide for the most advanced physics topics, just for my own amusement? I could base them off the table of contents of the books I just ordered for my self-study course.

A tiny little sign, obviously placed by someone with much better eyesight than me, and located ten feet up the trunk and behind a small retaining wall, told me the trees outside the Danforth Mediation Chapel are canary island pines.

Canary Island Pine. Naturally straight and tall to over 80 feet, it makes an excellent windbreaker and privacy tree.

Known for growing near the Caldera de Taburiente. Taburiente is probably a place name but could be confused as a nod to tabernacle. One can never know.
