The Arabian

Today for the first time I was at the Arabian Library, a branch of the Scottsdale Public Library. I had recently gotten my library card and used it immediately online to place a couple books on hold, which were at the Appaloosa branch.

It's a short drive from me, just on the other side of Bell Road, just to the east east side of Westworld. In fact just for fun I cut through Westworld on the secret through-streets that get you to the Arabian.

The Arabian is a very nice library, built in classic Scottsdale courtyard style. Metallic, rust-covered, and angular.

I picked up my two holds and then decided I might as well look around. I noticed the books that were displayed first as you come in the door were about Jewish history month. Front and center was a biography of Mel Brooks. If I didn't have a ton of other material right now, I'd think about it.

The library had several nice indoor spaces connected together in an interesting and appealing floor plan. Very dim inside the children's room. Felt very cavelike.

Regular nonfiction in traditional stacks, thankfully. I found the science section and added two books more I found there, including Quantum Physics for Dummies.

I tried to do self checkout, but I didn't have my required pin code. So I had the librarian scan them. Three weeks on all of them.

A very pleasant outing for a Sunday. I will go back to the Arabian any time, and I must also see the Appaloosa.
