Rebel Flag

Not that I have any direct knowledge of the dating experiences of the younger set. God forbid! But I was still "in the dating market" as recently as 2013 via online apps. I saw how much things had changed even by then.  Since then I have tracked American dating habits via the Internet, mostly Youtube. Everything is on the Internet now, especially for the young. So many young men today have simply given up on the idea of ever getting married and having a family.  Young women are considerably impossibly picky and spoiled. The common belief is that many if not most young women believe they still can have the perfect husband and a family, but only a decade or two from now, after living a long healthy Sex and the City life to determine what type of man suits her best. The young, especially young women, cannot be told otherwise. Generally they will destroy themselves if left to their own devices. Worse, they are encouraged and applauded in this by our entire society!  At the same time, I believe the true youthful energy of the body is at an all time low in our society. The spirit of pornography dominates. The eros of human connections is not happening like it used to  in the days of our grandparents. No amount of social disfunction would have kept us away from each other back in the day, or in previous eras.

I had to look up the album on Wikipedia, as I was not familiar with it, although I am familiar with other of Mr. Nelson's works, laregly through my friend This album turns out to have been released in 1973. It was the first album he made in Austin after escaping the clutches of the (New York-controlled) Nashville recording industry that had made creative slaves out of country musicians for years. Other musicians defected too, and that's what made Austin into what it was for the next couple decades. When I lived there (sharing a place with James much of the time), that vibe was definitely still present. Austin was much smaller.

The rebel flag reference---my friend knows what that means.
