Franken, Stein Trade Barbs at First 4-Way V.P. Debate

Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Oct. 18.  The nation's first-ever four-way televised Vice President debate last night was marked by a jockeying for down-ticket credibility, and punctuated by sharp and even angry rhetoric between Democratic Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Green Party candidate Dr. Stein of Massachusetts.

Stein went on the offensive early in the debate, describing Democratic President candidate Hillary Clinton as representative of "everything that true liberals should want to oppose right now." In response Franken put up a spirited, emotional defense of the Democratic Party and of Secretary Clinton's record as a champion for Progressive causes.
